Troubleshooting False Lock Jam Alerts

A lock might give a false jam alert for a number of reasons, including:

  • Door alignment: The door might not be shut properly, or the deadbolt might not be fully extending into the strike hole.
  • Strike hole depth: The strike hole in the door frame might not be deep enough causing the deadbolt to not extend all the way.
  • Door thickness: The door might not be supported properly.
  • Weather stripping: Weather stripping might be preventing the door from aligning properly.
  • Door handing: The door handing process might not have been completed during installation.
  • Deadbolt latch: The wrong deadbolt latch might be installed.
  • Mounting plate: The mounting plate might be putting tension on the torque blade.

Here are some things you can try:

  • Check the door: Make sure the door is shut properly and the deadbolt is fully extending into the strike hole. Ensure there is no friction when turning the deadbolt.
  • Check the strike hole: Ensure the strike hole in the door frame is at least 1 inch deep.
  • Check the door thickness: Make sure the door is supported properly.
  • Check the weather stripping: Make sure the weather stripping isn't preventing the door from aligning properly.
