Mapping Offline Devices in Brivo Access

Overview

Mapping offline devices in Brivo Access allows administrators on Multifamily edition of Brivo Access to easily manage access to offline locks distributed between residential units (Subsites)

Understanding Device Mapping

Subsites on the Multifamily edition help automate access provisioning and de-provisioning for residents at scale. Each Subsite has two system groups:

  • Common (C)
  • Main (M)

Common system group for a Site in Brivo Access allows access for users associated with any Subsite. For example:

  • In a residential building of 100 apartments, There is a “top level” Brivo Site called “Building” that contains 100 Subsites representing residential apartment units within the building.
  • Offline lock A is installed at the entrance to the building in the Common security group
  • Residents from all 100 apartment units will have access to the lock, since they are associated with Subsites of the Building Site.

Main system group will limit access to devices in that group only for those users that are explicitly granted access. In the residential scenario above, each apartment unit will have its own Common and Main system security groups, and users (residents) added to the main group of every apartment unit will have access only to the offline lock mapped to their unit, and locks in the Common area of any parent sites.

Prerequisites

  • An existing Brivo Site with subsites
  • Offline devices installed and mapped to a Brivo site. Contact your reseller if you need assistance with this prerequisite.

Steps to map offline devices to subsites:

  1. From the left navigation menu, choose Sites and then Site Settings. Choose your site and scroll down to the Devices section or click on the Devices link on the left.

  1. Devices in this section can be mapped to any subsite (residential unit, for example), so that only the residents of that unit have access to the device (lock).
  2. Select the Device you want to map.

  1. Under Assign to site dropdown, select the Subsite (residential unit, for example) that this device should be mapped to

NOTE: If mapping multiple devices, hit Bulk Device Mapping and select a Subsite for each device then click Save.

  1. Click Save.
  2. The selected device will be removed from the Devices list and will appear under Mapped Devices of the selected subsite.
